Skies cleared on Long Island Monday after showers and thunderstorms moved through the region during the afternoon.

"Scattered showers are moving through the region this afternoon," the weather service tweeted. "Gusts up to 30mph and locally heavy downpours are possible with this activity. The rain dissipates this evening, leading us into a dry night."

High temperatures were holding steady at about 75 degrees.

Tuesday is forecast to be sunny, with highs in the low 80s.
