Long Island will be warm and muggy on Saturday with a chance of thunderstorms through the early afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday’s high temperature will be 77 degrees. The morning began with fog and 100% humidity, before possible thunderstorms move-in around 2 p.m., according to NWS meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki.

The morning fog "should burn off fairly quickly. We should probably have a sunny morning, at least for a little bit," he said. "We do have a chance of some showers and thunderstorms today. It might be more hit or miss, but overall I think today is our best chance for any rain."

Ciemnecki added: "temperatures today on the Island are going to range anywhere from the lower 70s to the upper 70s," Temperatures could be lower further east on Long Island, he said.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the 70s through Monday, eventually dropping into the high 60s on Tuesday. It’s expected to be either partly cloudy, with no rain forecast until Wednesday.

"We’re looking at a dry forecast Sunday through Tuesday," Ciemnecki said. "Tomorrow we’re looking at temperatures in the lower 70s. Lower to mid 70s on Monday. And then for Tuesday, middle to upper 60s."
