Long Island will experience dry, cold conditions Monday before receiving a wintry mix and consistent rain for the rest of the week, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service said that temperatures will rise into the upper 20s and approach the 30s on Monday, the coldest day of the first week of March.
Meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki said while we warm up through the week, Long Island can expect a chance of rain or precipitation beginning Tuesday and lasting through at least Friday.
Snow is expected after sunrise on Tuesday with accumulations of less than an inch.
As the day warms up to highs in the lower 40s Tuesday, precipitation will transition to rain after noon and linger for the rest of the day, washing away any accumulating snow.
Temperatures rise to the mid-40s on Wednesday and closer to 50 on Thursday.
Ciemnecki said he can’t guarantee this is the last snowfall we’ll see this season.
"We've had plenty of Marches with snow, we've had probably some Aprils with snow," he said. "It's definitely going to feel like spring is starting to come. But I don't know that I would rule out that we're not going to see any more snow yet this year."
