Tuesday will begin sunny.

But nighttime could usher in a potentially soggy rest of the workweek, with a chance of rain showers, thunderstorms — or both — every day until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Dominic Ramunni, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said Tuesday would be "a nice day, but it’s going to be hot."

Then there will be the rainfall, though it won’t be intense.

"Hopefully we can stay dry into at least the first half of the weekend if not" the whole weekend.

Saturday will be "a beauty of a day," he said.

Although Tuesday daytime is forecast to be sunny bringing a high temperature near 89 degrees — nightfall brings a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 69 degrees, according to the forecast, issued by the weather service outpost in Upton.

The forecast is based on readings at a measuring station near the center of Long Island.

There's a slight chance of more showers and thunderstorms early Wednesday, in the morning, then continuing throughout the day. It will be a high near 83 degrees. Then, potentially thunderstorms at night, according to the forecast.

Thursday, there's a 50% chance of showers after 8 a.m., with temperatures in the 80s; 50% chance at night, with a low around 68 degrees

On Friday, it will be sunny, with a high of 83, dipping to a low of 62 degrees at night and clear.

The weekend is set to bring sunny skies on Saturday, a high near 81 degrees, and about 65 at night.

As for Sunday, there is a 30% chance of rain showers, and sunny, a high near 85 degrees. The chance of rainfall continues through nighttime.

Monday brought hot and humid weather, with overcast skies and temperatures approaching 90 degrees. Light and variable winds cleared clouds overnight to bring Tuesday's weather.
