It is turning out to be another wet weekend with the potential for coastal flooding on parts of Long Island.

A storm was expected to move in late Saturday afternoon and dump anywhere from ¾ of an inch of rain on the East End to about 1¼ inch on Nassau County's North Shore, according to Jay Engle, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.

The temperature Saturday topped out at 43 degrees shortly after 11 a.m. in Islip, but the weather service said it could rise to 49 degrees by 2 a.m. Sunday.

Saturday a coastal flood  warning running until 1 a.m. Sunday was issued for southwest Suffolk County. A coastal flood advisory was issued for from 7 a.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Sunday.

A weather service said that for the flood warning, up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, and for the flood advisory, up to a half foot of inundation is expected in the vulnerable areas.

The weather service advised motorists to be careful driving as some roads might be closed.

“Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property,” the coastal flood watch states.

Winds could gust as high as 39 mph Saturday night, the weather service said

Sunday scattered rain and snow showers are possible after 3 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 30%, according to the weather service. The high temperature is expected to be close to 51 degrees as a west wind blows at 16 to 19 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

The chance or precipitation is also 30% on Sunday night.

Monday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high temperature of around 46 degrees. The rest of the workweek should also be dry until Friday when there is a 30% chance of showers during the day and a 60% chance at night, according to the weather service.
