Unless you don't mind getting a little wet, Sunday might be a good day to find something to do inside.
The National Weather Service on Saturday evening said that on Sunday there will be an 80% chance of rain. The high temperature should be about 48 degrees — the normal high for the date in Islip is 54 degrees — and a south wind should blow at 7 to 9 mph.
Sunday night there is a chance of rain before 8, then a slight chance of showers between 8 and 11 p.m. The low temperature is expected to be near 37 degrees.
The start of the workweek on Monday will be mostly sunny, and Tuesday mostly cloudy, the weather service said.
Rain is back in the forecast Wednesday, mainly before 2 p.m., with the chance of precipitation 80%.
The Yankees season-opening game is slated to start at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, but fans might want to bring waterproof outerwear to the Bronx as rain is considered likely Thursday, but mainly after 2 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 70%.
Friday has a 40% chance of precipitation, and Saturday, 30%.
The high temperatures Monday through Saturday should be in the mid-50s, according to the weather service.
