Long Island weather: Sunshine on Saturday, snow on Sunday
The weekend forecast calls for an inch of snow on Long Island, mainly early Sunday morning, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Wunsch.
Saturday’s high temperature will be in the mid-40s on the Island .The day begin foggy, with late morning clearing to sun for the rest of Saturday.
"It looks like there might be a good chance of maybe some light snow very late tonight and through mainly tomorrow morning. It could linger into the afternoon," Wunsch said. "It could accumulate to maybe upwards of an inch, but generally under an inch for much of the Island."
Temperatures on Sunday will be in the upper 30s for most of Long Island. Conditions are expected to clear on Sunday afternoon before temperatures drop to 15 degrees overnight.
"The front that [the snowfall] is associated with pushes off to the east by Sunday night. High pressure kind of builds back in for Monday, but it will be substantially colder than it will be today or Sunday," Wunsch said.
Monday is expected to have clear conditions with highs in the upper 20s.
Temperatures are expected to jump back up into the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday. The forecast calls for rain both days.
