Long Islanders who prefer rain to snow will get their way, for now at least.

After a rainy Thursday night, Friday morning should offer a respite — but the National Weather Service in Upton predicts the downpours will resume, mainly after 1 p.m.

Showers, which will help keep the thermometer from climbing above 44, should largely end by about 10 p.m., the weather service’s website said.

Saturday should start off dry, and there is only a 30 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m., with the high expected to hit 50.

Rain looks likely to return after midnight, however — along with some patchy fog.

Umbrellas and slickers also look advisable for Sunday; there is an 80 percent chance of rain, mainly before 4 p.m., the weather service said. The temperature could hit 51.

The start of the workweek on Monday should be mostly sunny, though the high will hit only 50 or so, the service said.

Tuesday and Wednesday also should be clear; and Thursday has only a 30 percent chance of rain, the weather service said.
