There is a slight chance of snow showers around midday Wednesday, followed by scattered rain and snow showers, forecasters said.

Predawn temperatures on Long Island were below the freezing mark and nontreated surfaces could be slick and slippery, forecasters said.

Some of the snow, and possibly rain, could be around for the evening rush hour, News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

It will be otherwise cloudy Wednesday, and the temperature will hit a high of about 40 degrees, but wind speeds in the teens — with gusts of up to 33 mph — will make it feel colder, the National Weather Service said.

The rest of the workweek will be a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures topping out in the high 30s to low 40s, the weather service said. Brisk winds will continue to make it feel colder.

Saturday and Sunday will be sunny with a high temperature in the low to mid-40s, the weather service said.

It should be mostly sunny Monday, but rain and snow could move back in Tuesday, the first day of spring, the weather service said.

“Another storm system is possible sometime early to [the] middle of next week,” the weather service said in its forecast discussion.
