Long Islanders can look for sunny but colder conditions as the workweek wraps up, with a return to milder temperatures for the weekend, forecasters say.
“Cold next few days and then warm up for weekend,” said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.
Both Thursday and Friday are looking at highs in the mid-30s, with a dip in between, as temperatures overnight Thursday head down to the mid-teens, the National Weather Service said. The normal daily high this time of year at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 38 degrees, with 23 the low.
Look for Thursday to be breezy, with winds from the west-northwest, Hoffman said, followed by a “clear and very cold night.”
Temperatures overnight Friday into Saturday were expected to “hold steady” at around 33 degrees, the weather service said.
That’s as the weekend does bring that warm-up, with highs around the mid- to upper 40s Saturday and around 50 for Sunday, the weather service said.
In addition, rain could move in Saturday night and continue into Sunday, forecasters say.
