One day after a raging nor’easter buried much of Long Island in 2 feet or more of snow, forecasters said the region could see snow again Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The National Weather Service said the likelihood of more snow is high but new accumulations will be low, with less than 1 inch is expected.

A potentially miserable day of wintry mix precipitation is expected Wednesday and Thursday, with the weather service predicting a greater than 50% percent chance of a mix of snow and rain both days.

Highs are forecast in the upper 30s, maybe touching 40 degrees. New accumulations are expected to be light both days.

Sunshine is in the forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with daytime highs near 40.

In a special weather statement issued Tuesday, the weather service warned of areas of black ice and advised anyone out walking or driving to exercise extra caution.
