A feast for the eyes falls this weekend across New York.

Foliage will reach peak or near peak colors from western New York State to the Hudson Valley, while on parts of Long Island, field observers predict up to 40 percent of the leaves will show off a kaleidoscope of colors, from yellow to purple, according to Empire State Development, the state's main economic development agency.

Volunteer "Leaf Peepers" in various counties have been documenting color changes for state officials as part of the 2015 Fall Color Report. They note the percentage of leaves shedding their green and the brilliance of the new colors.

Up to 75 percent of leaves in some parts of the state have donned fall colors, according to this season's sixth report, and some veteran spotters say they're seeing some of the most brilliant colors in years.

The fall foliage report is at ILoveNY.com/fall.
