Long Islanders should expect windy conditions with gusts of up to 50 mph on Friday, as forecasters issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area.

The National Weather Service forecast temperatures to reach a high in the low 50s, but due to wind chill, it will feel like the 40s, said Jim Connolly, a service meteorologist.

"We're expecting windy conditions today, northwest winds of 35 to 45 miles an hour with some gusts, possibly up to 50," Connolly said.

Winds will die down and the outlook will lift around 5 p.m., but Long Islanders can expect gusts of up to 26 mph at night.

Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend, with highs in the mid-50s. Connolly said there is a slight chance of showers, but that is mainly north and west of the area.

Come Sunday, temperatures drop slightly to highs into the upper 40s. There is a 40% chance of rain late Sunday night into Monday.
