Weir to head Brookhaven department
Diana Weir, who managed the losing campaign of GOP congressional contender Randy Altschuler, is to become Brookhaven's $90,000- a-year head of housing and human services. Weir, 69, of East Hampton, is a former town board member, one-time aide to ex-Rep. Michael Forbes and former executive vice president of the Long Island Housing Partnership.
Weir will also oversee federal community development funding and serve as town liaison with Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) -- who twice survived Altschuler's challenges. Supervisor Edward Romaine called Weir "a great fit" because of her contacts and housing experience, and said she will relocate.-- Rick Brand
