Traffic is starting to slow down on several major roads across Long Island and Queens, as peak rush hour approaches on the first work day of the LIRR strike.

A disabled vehicle on the Northern State Parkway has shut down two lanes of traffic between Exit 28, South Willis Avenue and Exit 29, Roslyn Road.

The Southern State Parkway is slow from about the Meadowbrook Parkway to Peninsula Boulevard.

In Queens, the Long Island Expressway is sluggish between Kissena Blvd. and 108th Street.

A disabled truck westbound on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near the entrance of the Kosciuszko Bridge has shut down the center lane, causing a back up to Northern Boulevard.
