Erica Geremia scored four goals and Emily Tripodi had two goals and four assists to lead West Genesee over Penfield, 9-5, in the state Class A girls lacrosse final at SUNY-Cortland.
Tripodi's goal gave West Genesee a 6-5 lead with 9:58 remaining, and goals by Geremia helped the Wildcats (20-1) pull away. Sheila Nesselbush scored three goals for Penfield (13-9).
West Genesee, which lost in the state semifinals last year, captured its first state championship since winning in 2007 and 2008. Northport had won the Class A title last season.
