Behind a historic performance by Nick Galasso, West Islip won its second straight state Class A boys lacrosse title and fourth in the last five seasons with a 13-5 victory over Fairport on Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium.

Galasso had one goal and six assists and with his fifth assist late in a 7-0 third quarter, he became Long Island’s all-time career scoring leader, breaking Jim Zaffuto’s mark of 498 points. Zaffuto played for Elmont from 1974-77. Galasso, a senior, finishes with 500 career points.

Mike Sagl had four goals for the Lions (21-1), who end the season with a 21-game winning streak. Fairport finishes 19-3.
