The new Westchester County Board of Legislators was sworn in today, bringing an end to the Democrats' supermajority.

The new board of 17 includes 10 Democrats and seven Republicans.

The newest legislators sworn in were Democrats Virginia Perez and Catherine Borgia, and Republicans Mike Smith and David Gelfarb.

County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) says he sees potential in the new board and hopes there is a greater dialogue between his office and the board in the new session.

Despite the end of the supermajority, both Democrats Ken Jenkins and Lyndon Williams retain the positions as board chair and vice chair, respectively.
