What to know on Long Island today

POLICE RELEASE PHOTO OF SUSPECT. Suffolk County detectives are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Central Islip bank Friday afternoon, but left without the cash. Suffolk Police released a photo of the suspect (pictured above) Monday afternoon, and asked the public to help identify him.

PERSON STRUCK BY TRAIN.  A person was struck Monday around 1 p.m. by a Long Island Rail Road train in Center Moriches, a spokesman for the commuter service said. More info: http://bit.ly/1f39LVd

WATER MAIN BREAKS. The Suffolk County Water Authority reported three water main breaks on Monday.

  -- ISLIP, Smith Avenue. About 60 residences were affected by a shutdown of water services as crews worked on repairs.
  -- NORTHPORT, Ocean Avenue. About 20 residences were affected by a shutdown of water services as crews worked on making repairs.
  -- SOUND BEACH, Greenlawn Road. About 19 residents were impacted by a similar shutdown.

A message posted on the SCWA website warned customers in these areas that they might experience no water service, low water pressure and discolored water for a period of time.
