What to watch: Board meetings, festival

The Long Island Fair will be open today through Sunday on the grounds of the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The fair, held annually in various venues since 1842, will feature more than 2,000 entries competing in categories ranging from fruits and vegetables to cakes, quilts, needlework, log-sawing and Long Island wines. The Port Jefferson Village board of trustees meets Monday at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. The public is welcome, but there is no public input. Check Sophia Chang’s Twitter updates @schangnewsday.
The North Hempstead Town Board meets Tuesday night at 7:30 at Town Hall (230 Plandome Rd., Manhasset). The board is scheduled to vote on a new energy policy for town employees and buildings and on a proposed new weight limit for the Webster Avenue bridge. The public is invited. Check Emily C.
