White Castle: No plans for Roy Rogers site

It looks like Shirley residents will still have to travel to Centereach to get their dose of White Castle sliders.

Despite rumors that the restaurant chain would be taking over the former Roy Rogers location on William Floyd Parkway, the franchise’s New York district office said there no plans to open a Shirley store.

Thomas Bray, White Castle’s regional director in New York, said White Castle may have looked at the Roy Rogers location years ago, but it couldn’t come to a deal.

“We’re always looking in Shirley, but it’s a matter of finding the right property for the right price,” he said.

Brookhaven Councilman Dan Panico, who represents the area, said his office hasn’t received any applications for a new business at the Roy Rogers location, although he expects that to change because it is a popular area. No matter what applications come in, he said he will want to hear from the community before he makes a decision.

“I really want to get community input because we have community that went to great lengths to beautify the area and to make the area better,” he said.
