Mike bought his house in 1996 when it was a two-bedroom bungalow. In 2009, his mother moved in, bringing about a major renovation. He talks about his home:
"The village of Patchogue is a dynamite place. . . . Yesterday we had the parade on Main Street and last weekend we had the boat parade, which goes past my house. . . . I rebuilt the house from the ground up. I moved it off its foundation . . . put in 23 pilings with a concrete platform. I moved the house back, took it down to one wall and rebuilt. . . .
The kitchen has custom maple cabinets, stainless steel appliances and granite imported from Brazil. It's an island kitchen with high hats. . . .
"I have my mom, sister and daughter with me. They have their own living room downstairs. . . . The great room on the second level has two big sliders . . . overlooking the Great South Bay. Each level has its own deck . . . The heating system and the central air-conditioning are brand new. The upper bathroom has ceramic and glass tile, and the lower bathroom has marble and ceramic tile. . . .
"If you have children, Patchogue is a great place to raise kids . . . I have access to the Village of Patchogue pool and beach, which is within walking distance. . . . I sit out on the deck with coffee every morning, even in the winter, as the sun hits the front of the house."
