Which of the eight Five Guys Burgers and Fries outlets on Long Island will be the first to install the company's new Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain, a space-age dispenser of 100 beverages, including flavored waters, lemonades and caffeine-free drinks?
Five Guys, headquartered in Lorton, Va., which has a deal with Coca-Cola, says it's the first large restaurant chain to roll out Coca-Cola Freestyle. Mary McLeese, a company spokeswoman, said the Freestyle is now in 40 of the company's 156 corporate-owned stores nationwide. Coca-Cola makes the dispensers.
Five Guys is leaving it up to franchised stores as to whether they want to install the Freestyle, she said. The Five Guys restaurants on Long Island are all franchised.
Five Guys lovers on the Island may be disappointed. We couldn't find an outlet that had the machine yet. And at the Long Beach outlet, the man who answered the phone said he asked his boss about the dispensers and "he hasn't even heard about them."
