Suresh Babu of Eastport has received the Don Klass Award for Excellence in Thermochemical Conversion Science from the Gas Technology Institute based on his achievements in the field and contributions to the nonprofit. Babu is a manager in the global and regional solutions directorate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, which he joined last year after holding positions with TERI Technologies in India and Battelle Science and Technology in Malaysia. He is currently developing a biomass thermochemical conversion research program at the lab to explore the conversion of biomass to fuels, chemicals and power in the northeastern U.S.
