Theresa Giangarra of Northport was named 2011 Advocate of the Year by the Bethpage-based nonprofit Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities for her "outstanding support" of the organization's efforts to secure meaningful jobs for people with disabilities. She has spent the past 20 years as director of food and nutrition at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and previously was chief dietitian and food services director at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn. She is a member American Dietetic Association and the Association of Healthcare Foodservice.
