Herb Aldrich of New Hyde Park
has received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Literacy Nassau, a Freeport-based organization that promotes literacy in Nassau County. Aldrich, who was recognized for "his contribution of time in helping to further the agency's mission," has been a Literacy Nassau volunteer for seven years and has also handled the organization's outreach efforts. He worked as an
engineer for Verizon for 35 years
before retiring in 1992.
