Victoria Crosby of Glen Cove has been named poet laureate of the Daughters of the British Empire,

a nonprofit organization for

philanthropic women of

British birth or ancestry. Crosby,

who grew up in Cheshire, England,

is regent of the DBE's Westminster Abbey Chapter on Long Island and New York State region vice

president. She has been poet laureate for the City of Glen Cove since

1994 and is founder and president

of the Glen Cove Arts Council.
