With no LIRR, dad considers 5-mile walk to daughter's school
Rotimi Adebiyi showed up at the St. James LIRR station with a plan to ride east to visit his daughter, but was left stranded when he realized no trains were running.
"I just got to the train station now and discovered that I cannot take a train to Stony Brook,” said Adebiyi, who just arrived on Long Island Friday from Connecticut, where he was visiting his son. "I wasn’t actually informed about [the strike]. It’s really very troubling.”
Adebiyi, who lives in Nigeria, told Newsday he may have to make the 5-mile trek to his daughter’s high school in Stony Brook by foot.
"I don’t know how I am going to get there right now,” he said on Saturday afternoon. "I’ll have to walk or get someone to take me and drop me off.”
