Woman, 75, fatally hit by car in Massapequa

An East Meadow woman died Friday night after she was struck by a car while crossing Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, Nassau police said.

Grace Rinaldi, 75, of East Meadow, was walking in the eastbound lane west of Hicksville Road at about 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Honda Accord heading east, police said.

Rinaldi was pronounced dead at a hospital less than an hour later.

Police do not expect to charge the driver of the Honda -- a female whom they did not identify. Police are performing brake and safety checks on the vehicle.
