Two workers were hurt when something set off a "small explosion" as they removed an old gasoline tank in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood on Friday, the FDNY said.

The FDNY said the workers were taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The explosion occurred around 10:25 a.m. as they moved the tank from a former gas station at 461 W. 14th St., near 10th Avenue, fire department officials said.

A portion of the High Line park was also said to have temporarily closed.

The explosion did not set ablaze any structure at the old gas station, and the cause is being investigated, an FDNY spokesman said.

The former gas station is in a commercial area and, as a precaution, about 100 people from two buildings were evacuated, fire officials said.

The names of the workers and their companies were not released.
