Workshops in entrepreneurship and business will be offered for six weeks to Village of Hempstead residents, giving them an advantage in starting new ventures, Mayor Wayne Hall has announced.

The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Program is a joint venture between the village, Citi and the New York State Small Business Development Center at Farmingdale State College, according to a news release.

The workshops will be offered once a week at the Hempstead Public Library, at 115 Nichols Ct. They will run from 6 to 9 p.m. and will begin April 23; the last class will be held on May 31.

Village residents can sign up at www.farmingdale.edu/sbdc or call 631-420-2765.

The organizers plan on several small businesses opening up in the community, the release said, as a result of the upcoming $2 billion downtown revitalization project.

“The Village is proud to make this workshop available free of charge to all of our residents,” Hall said in the release. “We commend Citi and the NYS Small Business Development Center for their vision in developing the program and for their outstanding commitment to community.”
