Some of those who sustained injuries from an explosion at a bar in the Mishomoroni district of Mombasa, which police at the scene said was a grenade attack, are treated at the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya late Sunday. The explosion comes after the U.S. Embassy in Kenya on Friday warned of an imminent threat of a terrorist attack in Mombasa and said all U.S. government personnel had to leave the city. An official says a grenade attack has killed one person and wounded many others on the Kenyan coast.

Police official Aggrey Adoli said the grenade was thrown into a bar outside the coastal city of Mombasa late Sunday. He said one person was killed and many others wounded. Local media said 12 were wounded.

Kenya has seen several small-scale grenade attacks since the country sent troops to Somalia in October.

The latest attack came only hours after Kenyan officials protested a U.S. Embassy travel advisory released Friday that warned of an imminent attack in Mombasa. The officials said the advisory amounted to "economic sabotage" in a city that relies on tourism.

The attack came during a big European soccer match between England and Italy late Sunday.
