Check your selfie game before you post that next picture. Two Canadian brothers raised the bar with a snapshot they took with a bald eagle they rescued.
Michael and Neil Fletcher, both in their late twenties from Chelmsford, Ontario, began their Tuesday by heading out for grouse hunting with their dog, but ended up saving a bald eagle that had its talon caught in a trap.
In a video on Michael Fletcher's Facebook page, the brothers covered the eagle with a sweatshirt to help calm it down as they freed its talon. It took about three minutes for the duo to set the bird free. And they managed to snap a selfie with the eagle before it flew off.
The video has since been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
"It didn't really fuss or give any sign of aggression," Michael said to the local paper the Sudbury Star. "I don't know if it knew we were helping him, or what."
Luckily the eagle’s talon didn't appear injured during the struggle to get free. “There was no blood or anything,” Michael said to the Sudbury Star. “I don’t know how long it was caught in there but I think maybe it had just been in there a little while.”
With their selfie as a souvenir from an unforgettable outing, the brothers have received quite a response on Facebook. One friend commented, “Isn’t it ill-eagle to take a badass selfie like that?” Michael told the Sudbury Star with a laugh.
