Swiss police probe death of student from Long Island
Swiss police say they are investigating the avalanche death of a Massachusetts college student from Long Island in the mountains south of the capital, Bern.
Police say the student was killed Sunday after being swept away by the snow and falling down a 330-foot cliff.
Williams College has identified the student as Henry Lo of Franklin Square.
The school says he was part of a group of exchange students at Oxford University in England who were on a weekend hiking trip in Switzerland. It says another student, Amy Nolan of Williamstown, Mass., was injured in the avalanche and taken to the hospital.
Bern police said Tuesday the avalanche appears to have been caused by a person skiing above where the students were walking.
