Bank and store windows were smashed and a cafe set afire Thursday as economic protests in Barcelona turned violent. FRANCE: Mass killer is buried
Mohamed Merah, 23, the gunman who claimed responsibility for France's worst terror attacks in years was buried Thursday in Toulouse, ending a tortured debate over what to do with the body of a man President Nicolas Sarkozy called a "monster." France is reeling from the killings of three Jewish schoolchildren, a rabbi and three paratroopers. Burial was in the Muslim section of a Toulouse cemetery. About 20 men attended the ceremony, hiding their faces from reporters. Abdallah Zekri of the French Muslim Councilled the negotiations with Merah's family and Algerian and Toulouse authorities over where to bury him.
