Wrestlemania 27 predictions: WHC: Edge vs. Albert Del Rio

Alfonso: It’s something of a shame that this match is not getting nearly the attention or hype as several others, including even Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler. But that’s just the reality of where the Smackdown brand falls among Vince McMahon’s priorities. I expect a solid, but unspectacular bout from two professionals who will probably be expected to hold back a bit as to not upstage some of the bigger matches on the show. Ssince winning the world title in December Edge has done a commendable job of rejuvenating his career with one tremendous in-ring performance after another. Del Rio, competing in a world title match in his WrestleMania debut, will be determined to give it his all. I expect Del Rio will win the world title in this one. There’s also a decent chance of Christian turning on Edge in this one to set up a feud between the longtime friends. I wouldn’t assume that the actual turn takes place on this show, but the seeds may be planted.

Pick: Albert Del Rio

Anthony: The WWE has put way too much time and effort into building Alberto Del Rio. Why tear it down now? Besides, Royal Rumble winners very rarely lose in their title match at ‘Mania. Del Rio will defeat Edge and there’s a good chance Christian can turn on Edge. Yes, it’s predictable but this match has gotten very little love and play on a grand scale. So I can see the creative powers taking the easy route on this one.

Pick: Albert Del Rio

Seth: I really, really, really hope they don't go the route of Christian turning on Edge and helping Del Rio win -- we've only seen that 10,000 times. With so much schmozz coming into play in so many other top matches, I'd love to see Del Rio go over clean as a sheet here. A clean win for the World Title at WrestleMania would MAKE him a star.
