Wrong to keep public worker compensation

In his op-ed "Remember King's fight for workers" [Jan. 17], Kris La Grange implies that taking away public employee benefits would be morally wrong. In an era where private sector pensions have virtually disappeared and contributions to medical plans go up each year, I'd suggest it's morally wrong to continue business as usual.
It is unreasonable to expect private sector employees to pay public employees' compensation packages that exceed that which they receive. In addition to being an unsustainable model, it may also have the effect of encouraging individuals to pursue safe, comfortable public jobs rather than risk-taking, entrepreneurial career paths that the country needs to remain innovative and productive.
