WWE 2010 Summerslam predictions
Summerslam is this Sunday live on pay per view in L.A. Here’s the card as of tonight with my predictions.
7-on-7 Elimination Match: Team WWE vs. Nexus
This feud has been going on for months and now, finally, Nexus and Team WWE finally get it on in the ring. With the attack on the Great Khali, all eyes are on the Miz. Does he accept the offer to join the team? My guess is yes, but I’m not sure if he really cares about Team WWE. He could enter the match but end up walking away from the team half-way through the match. Remember, the Miz only cares about cashing in his Money in the Bank shot to win the WWE Championship. That’s the main goal for the Miz.
My pick for this match is Nexus. I see this feud continuing for a little while longer. Nexus has dominated the Raw roster for months with sneak attacks and 7-on-1 attacks. For them to lose in their first fair challenge would hurt them. Team WWE can afford the defeat. What’s in it for them to win? Nothing. Nexus has more to fight for as they’re seven upstart rookies looking to make an impact.
WWE Championship Match: Sheamus (C) vs. Randy Orton
When ever Orton is in a championship match I always pick him and get burned. I’m going to try this again and pick Orton because this time I truly believe he will win. Momentum has been on his side for months now and he continues to look good in the ring. Now, if Sheamus does win I would not be heart broken. Sheamus plays the scared heel better than most. The fans have been waiting for Orton to win the title as the face and I think the WWE will give him that opportunity this Sunday.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Kane (C) vs. Rey Mysterio
The big concern going into this match is when/if will the Undertaker appear. Will he actually be there in the flesh or will a gong go off? I see Kane retaining the title and then some kind of Undertaker presence. I love Kane with the title right now and I think he should be the champion heading into a feud with Taker. Those that read this blog know I have no love for Rey, but this has nothing to do with him. Taker is the main face on Smackdown and a feud with Kane can really be used on the show right now.
Intercontinental Title Match: Zolph Ziggler (C) vs. Kofi Kingston
This has quietly been a great mid-card feud on Smackdown that has produced some really good matches. I like how the WWE has been building Ziggler up slowly, similar to John Morrison a few years ago. My pick is Ziggler as I see this feud continuing for at least another pay per view.
3-on-1 Handicap Match: The Big Show vs. The Straight Edge Society
This match was just thrown on the card for the heck of it. I know they’ve been feuding on Smackdown, but come on? This is one of the biggest pay per views the WWE throws every year and this is one of the matches? I much rather some random tag team title match instead of this. Anyway, The Straight Edge Society should pick up the win.
Divas Championship Match: Alicia Fox (C) vs. Melina
Melina is riding the wave of a comeback and has plenty of momentum. I see Melina picking up the win although I like how Fox has dominated the women’s division on Raw. The women’s division has not had anyone dominate since the likes of Lita and Trish. I think the WWE gas been looking for that next woman to take up the mantle, but they’ve come up empty. If anything, Melina is that woman that could come close to Lita and Trish.
