"These guys just grabbed the flux capacitor," announcer JBL told WWE fans during the Royal Rumble pre-show Sunday night.

He had just watched the New Age Outlaws defy Father Time by winning the WWE Tag Team Title from Cody Rhodes and Goldust.

The reuniting of Rhodes and brother Goldust -- aka Dustin Rhodes -- has been one of the most feel-good stories in professional wrestling in years. But with the upcoming WWE Network launching on Feb. 24 the company saw the need to expand its reach toward the past and did so with Outlaws "B.A." Billy Gunn and "Road Dogg" Jesse James taking their recent reunion to the next level by taking the title belts.

Gunn and James were a big part of WWE winning the Monday Night War from WCW back in the 1990s, and they found their old magic when Gunn caught Cody Rhodes with a finishing move for the pin.

The win came after the Outlaws -- who came back as good guys on the recent Old School RAW -- turned on CM Punk and resumed their dastardly ways. It was hinted that their relationship with fellow Degeneration X member Triple H -- who is now a real-life WWE executive -- would give them a smooth road toward the title. But on Sunday night they regained their titles after so many years sans outside interference.
