Yankees acquire ex-Met pitcher Chris Capuano in trade with Rockies
Chris Capuano is back in New York, only this time it's the Bronx.
The Yankees acquired Capuano, the former Met, from the Rockies in a trade for cash considerations that was announced after Thursday's game. He's expected to provide depth for the rotation, where the Yankees could use another experienced backup at the ready.
The Rockies signed Capuano, 35, upon his release from the Red Sox on July 1. The lefthander was 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA in four combined starts at Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs.
With Boston, Capuano was 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA in 28 relief appearances.
Back in 2011, the Mets signed Capuano to an incentive-laden, $1.5-million contract and he went 11-12 with a 4.55 ERA during his only season in Flushing. Capuano then parlayed that into a two-year, $10-million contract with the Dodgers before signing with the Red Sox this past winter.
