Yankees fan Freddy 'Freddy Sez' Schuman dies at 85
The Yankees held a moment of silence before last night's playoff game for longtime stadium fixture Freddy "The Fan" Schuman, who died Sunday at 85.
Schuman was a staple at Yankees games beginning in 1988. He was best known for his frying pan, which he encouraged fans to bang with a large spoon, and his colorful signs with messages that always began, "Freddy Sez."
The Yankees will have some of Schuman's memorabilia on display inside Yankee Stadium's Gate 4 Tuesday night before Game 4 of the ALCS. Fans will be able to bang Freddy's frying pan in his memory.
Eventually, the items will become part of a display in the Yankees museum at the stadium.
