Max Fried vs. these Red Sox

The players on the current Red Sox roster have not fared particularly well against the Yankees' Game 2 starter Max Fried. The lefthander has limited this set of Boston hitters to a .206 batting average over their careers.

Seven Sox have more than 10 at-bats against Fried. Of them, shortstop Trevor Story has faced him the most, 22 at-bats, and has two home runs and five RBI, both team highs. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has had some success against Friend, going 4-for-13 (.308), but isn’t in Boston’s Game 2 starting lineup.

Here’s the Red Sox lineup Fried is going against and how they've done against him:

• Jahmai Jones: 1-for-2
• Adley Rutschman: 0-for-10
• Willson Contreras: 2-for-11
• Wilyer Abreu: 1-for-5
• Ceddanne Rafaela: 2-for-18
• Caleb Durbin: 0-for-5
• Nick Sogard: 4-for-6
• Trevor Story: 5-for-22
• Nate Eaton: 3-for-6
