The article "Catholics rally for religious rights" [News, June 30] details the fight over religious freedom, First Amendment rights and the Affordable Care Act's birth control coverage mandates. That's all well and good, but too many in this group will turn around and vote Democratic.

What do they expect the Democrats to do? Too many Catholics just ignore the facts. Again, all well and good if they want to remain a separate group. Maybe the time has come for another Luther to tack up a manifesto on some door? The persecution has begun, and Roman Catholics have to wake up to that fact, and they may not have the guts to fight.

They probably want to sit back and say another issue such as abortion, gay rights or marriage equality takes precedence. In the end they will be sadly mistaken.
