Letter: Extend ourselves to listen to others
I read “Asking the Clergy: How can houses of worship help heal society’s divisions?” [LI Life, Aug. 7] It brought to mind questions.
The article says that together we are stronger. Yes, if we listen to other people’s opinions and learn. When a group of people sticks together, not knowing an entire story, what we have is a cult. They are being misinformed.
We have to be able to talk with one another. False premises block us from forming accurate opinions.
In this day, it’s most important to have tolerance of others and extend ourselves in getting to know people of other faiths and ethnic backgrounds.
