Now that the Obamacare rollout has turned out to be a fiasco ["Aide tapped to overhaul health site," News, Oct. 23], Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and the tea party deserve an apology from all of the Democrats, liberals, establishment Republicans and media people who vilified him for keeping his campaign promise to try to defund Obamacare.

Things Cruz warned about are coming to pass. Deductibles are going up. Now, numerous Democrats in Congress are calling for a one-year delay, which is what Cruz was fighting for during the debate to increase the debt ceiling. Funny how these Democrats now favor Cruz's plan, after labeling him an arsonist and a hostage-taker. Do you think it has to do with the election in 2014? I do.

As a small-business owner, I have no sympathy for furloughed government workers ["Pay restored for workers on furlough," News, Oct. 6]. In my world, no work, no pay.

In the private sector, a furloughed worker is one who involuntarily takes time off without pay. That's the definition of furlough in the real world.

The so-called furloughed government workers got two weeks off and will be paid retroactively anyway. That's a paid vacation.
