I have serious doubts about the abilities of developers Don Monti and Scott Rechler and Hempstead officials to complete their project to revitalize the village [“Iron out wrinkles in Hempstead,” Editorial, July 21].

I doubt that two businessmen who develop projects for a living didn’t know exactly what the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency was voting on. The IDA members who represent Hempstead Village were fooled by what they voted on, and now need a revote? Were they in the meeting when the discussions were held? Is a revote even legal?

These entities are not representing themselves well in the public eye. If the lenders won’t finance the project based on the terms voted on, then maybe the project is overreaching.
