Letters: Trump's talk shows he's 'shallow'

How long are we going to be subjected to the tirades of The Donald that ignore facts and illustrate the shallow basis of his opinions ["Trump a challenge in GOP debate," News, July 26]?
In reference to his remarks about Mexican immigrants, isn't he aware that all immigrants to this country have brought a mixture of good and bad? Perhaps he forgets that many modern immigrants from Europe brought crime and corruption, as well as morals and hard work?
I must also address his criticism of the Veterans Affairs health care system. Perhaps he is basing his remarks on the reports about a few facilities that needed gross improvements. However, my husband was a patient at the Northport VA for the last 10 years of his life. He received excellent treatment and care from the staff, both when he went for routine tests and when he began to succumb to Alzheimer's disease. He had no difficulty obtaining timely appointments. The common areas and medical rooms were spotless.

Donald Trump recently made remarks about Mexican immigrants coming to this country illegally. His comments caused an uproar.
He stated that criminals are entering the country illegally, but added that some are good people. That is an accurate statement.
The problem with Trump's statement is he did not use politically correct language to express his views. Maybe it's time we had a person representing America who has a backbone and addresses problems head-on instead of worrying which voting bloc might be offended.
The problem of illegal immigration has been around for decades. What have the "professional" politicians done to resolve the it? They grant amnesty.

Donald Trump is not the monster that people make him out to be. You don't have to be a Trump lover to appreciate his independence and guts to say what he thinks.
How many people silently brood over the way immigrants have integrated into our country, taking jobs away from our unemployed? Trump went overboard, as he often does, categorizing them as rapists and drug dealers. But his point, so salient and even overplayed perhaps, was nevertheless brought out in the open. How many movers and shakers would go out on the limb like that?
His comments on Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) are a different story. Trump and McCain have been at each other's throats politically for some time now. McCain has landed some low blows, too. Trump isn't out of the running. You can bet your last peso on that.
