One day recently, I received four phone calls from “card member services.”

I would like to ask Sen. Chuck Schumer why we have the National Do Not Call Registry if it’s not capable of stopping these phone calls [“Can anyone stop the robocalls — please?” Just Sayin’, May 28].

Maybe we should rid ourselves of another failed federal effort, and save taxpayers the money.

In response to the letter about intrusive phone calls, I also get these several times a day.

I never answer the phone until the second ring. I send email to the National Do Not Call Registry, which I’ve been on for many years, but the registry isn’t much help.

Recently, we found a service called Nomorobo, which helps block robocalls and telemarketers. It’s made a difference!
