Long Beach home for sale overlooks canal, was gut renovated

The two-bedroom, one-bathroom home is on the market for $865,000. Taxes on the 0.06-acre property, which falls within the Long Beach Public Schools district, total $10,860.

"Honestly, I am completely and utterly obsessed with this house," said listing agent Leah Tozer, of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.

Tozer described the listing as "the quintessential Long Beach, Spanish-style Mediterranean house on the water." The house overlooks a canal that Tozer said has no bridge and thereby no height restrictions for boating.

"It's not tremendous, but it's perfect," Tozer said of the 966-square-foot home. "If somebody just wants to be here, be on the water, have a boat, standup paddleboard, kayak, want to have their place, it's such a turnkey, low overhead, low flood insurance, low taxes."

Flood insurance on the property costs approximately $2,300 annually, Tozer said.

The house itself has vaulted ceilings and was gut-renovated within the past decade, Tozer said. A lofted area is currently used as an office space. The renovation also involved restoring cast-iron radiators, Tozer added.

An all-seasons room in the back of the house has screens that can turn the space into an enclosed porch, Tozer said. Upstairs, there is a full attic; downstairs, there are a laundry area and additional storage space.

"I might steal the house myself," Tozer said in — mostly — jest.
