THE SCOOP With its preserved architecture, tree-lined streets, easy access to Manhattan and new luxury apartments, Lynbrook combines its historic roots with modern flair.
Close to the south shore of Nassau County, Lynbrook offers a small town aesthetic just a 35-minute train ride to Manhattan. The community resembles many other densely populated Nassau areas with its mixture of home styles, but retains its suburban feel, said Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach.
"The village takes pride in its heritage, with beautifully preserved Dutch Colonial, English Tudor and Craftsman-style houses featuring brick, fieldstone and other ornate details not found uniformly throughout the Island," he said in an email. "A dedicated architectural review board helps maintain the village’s distinctive turn-of-the-century character, ensuring that its visual identity remains intact for generations to come."

Often the hub of family recreation, Greis Park is a gathering place offering youth ballfields, with newly installed turf, and a swimming pool for residents.
Lynbrook Village is known to throw a party. Each year, it hosts summer car shows and street fairs, including a summer carnival and a fall Oktoberfest, Beach said.
"These events bring neighbors together year after year," the mayor added.

Lynbrook is proud of its historical footprint. Miller’s Hardware store is often touted as the oldest-running one on Long Island. The Brick Café has been in service since the 1930s, and the Lynbrook Public Library, built in 1929, is on both the national and New York State registers of historic places.
Home prices in Lynbrook range from a $175,000 studio co-op to $1.2 million newly renovated three-bedroom, three-bathroom Tudor.
A new luxury apartment complex, The Langdon, sits across from the Long Island Rail Road station, which gives renters access to both commuting and nearby shops and restaurants. Recent listing prices run from $2,949 for a studio to $3,946 for a two-bedroom.
Fun fact: The 1990s-2000s TV sitcom, "Everybody Loves Raymond," was set in Lynbrook.
